Reduce Condensation on Windows

Waking up to wet windows? Your home is trying to tell you something.

Window condensation may seem harmless, but it’s one of the clearest signs that your home has too much moisture in the air. And where there’s condensation, mould, mildew, and structural issues are usually close behind.

You might wipe it away each morning — only for it to return the next day. That’s because condensation is a symptom of an unbalanced indoor environment, not the root problem.

  • Moisture from breathing, showering, cooking and laundry
  • Sealed-up homes with limited airflow
  • Cold glass surfaces meeting warm, humid indoor air
  • Inadequate or uneven ventilation throughout the home

When warm, moisture-rich air comes into contact with cooler surfaces — like glass — water condenses and collects. Over time, this can lead to peeling paint, warped frames, mouldy blinds and musty smells.

A Ventis Home Ventilation System tackles condensation at the source by reducing excess moisture inside your home. It works by gently introducing drier air from the roof space, creating a constant airflow that naturally pushes out damp, stale indoor air through cracks, vents and openings.

This stabilises indoor humidity levels, helping to keep window surfaces dry — even during colder months or in high-moisture rooms like bathrooms and bedrooms.

*Please note that Ventis won’t necessarily reduce condensation in bathrooms as we do not install outlets in these rooms.

Cold, damp rooms with a musty smell

And hello to better visibility, fresher air and peace of mind.

A small amount of moisture on the windows is not bad and if anything means that your home is keeping you insulated from the outside. However too much moisture on the windows can lead to mould growth which is not a welcome intruder.

Many people believe that their windows are faulty for the condensation forming on the windows. Condensation is not caused by faulty windows, rather it is formed on the glass because glass usually has the lowest temperature of any other surface in a building.

In order to reduce the condensation that occurs within your home you need to control the humidity inside your home.

Using the Ventis Ventilation System, it not only limits the amount of moisture that is absorbed by the house, but removes all moist air and circulates dry air to combat any moist spots in the house. The constant cycling of air and purification of the air will cause the humidity within the house to be significantly decreased which will in turn decrease the amount of condensation that occurs within the home.

Condensation occurs on the windows when there are extreme temperature differences between indoor and outdoor areas. There should also be only a small amount of moisture and water on the glass.

The condensation on the glass will occur in the inside of the home during the winter months, on the outside during the summer months and if the condensation ever occurs in between two layers of an insulated window then the window needs to be replaced. This is because the airtight seal between the two layers has most likely become broken or is defected.

By installing the Ventis Ventilation System you’ll never have to worry about condensation as the air within your home will be purified and the moisture within the air will be dried through the use of the warm air within the roof of the house.

Very good service, fast and clean and pleasant staff. The Ventis system itself is a great idea and good money saver, esp. in colder periods of poor weather.

We have owned a Ventis ventilation system since 2015. The system is excellent and combines well with our new airconditioning/heating system to maintain a stable temperature in the house. Maintenance is roughly annual (change the main filter). We have ours serviced regularly. The service people have always been helpful, courteous, communicate their arrival beforehand, and efficient operators. We have worked out that it saves electricity because the aircon is not required unless the temperature inside is extreme (for us that is below 15ºC and above 28ºC). We highly recommend the system and the company. Our opinion is still current on 21 March 2025.

FAQs

Is Condensation on Windows Bad?

Not necessarily, a small amount of condensation on the windows means that your home is well insulated. However a large amount of condensation means that there is high humidity within your home, which could lead to mould growth.

By continuously circulating warm, dry air through your home it reduces humidity levels and prevents excess moisture from forming on windows and other cold surfaces.

Yes, the Ventis Ventilation System will work all year round and will be effective in cooler months.

Condensation does not mean that your windows are faulty, condensation occurs due to the extreme temperature differences and the humidity levels.

The Ventis Ventilation System will greatly reduce the condensation within your home and will manage humidity levels.
